Making Waves: The Collapse of Oceanic Biodiversity, 2067
Set just 40 years in the future, the United Nations Environment Programme has hastened to call an emergency meeting to address the pressing issue of oceanic protection and lack of biodiversity under the sea. This meeting will consist of state representatives, NGO leadership, and prominent figures in the corporate fishing and production industries. With an emphasis on issue intersectionality, delegates must address the crucial problems faced by local communities while also scaling advocacy to a global level.
Chair - Lucy Robb
Lucy is a first-year from Portland, Oregon and is beyond excited to chair at VICS. A (hopeful) double major in politics and religious studies with a minor in global sustainability, Lucy loves to explore new topics and the ways that they impact each other. She's involved in First-Year Council, International Relations Organization (IRO), Interdisciplinary Religious Studies Association, Outdoors Club, and is also a member of UVA's Model UN team. Be sure to catch her hiking, making playlists, or side questing to the max!
Crisis director - Nora reid
Nora Reid is a first year student from Nipomo, California. She plans to double major in Biology and Public Policy and Leadership. She is currently on the MUN travel team and is active in the International Relations Organization. Outside of academic engagements she enjoys her biology research, reading, and the beach.
