A Letter from the Secretary-General
Dear Delegates,
It is my honor to welcome you to the thirty-first iteration of the Virginia International Crisis Simulation, held on the historic Grounds of the University of Virginia from March 18–21, 2027. Having served on Secretariat and as a VICS committee Crisis Director in the past, this conference has been an integral part of my experience here in Charlottesville. VICS is something that I look forward to every year, seeing hundreds of delegates come to a city I hold very dear and helping make this conference the best it can be for us and for you. This year, I have the privilege of leading VICS, and it is truly an honor to be leading such a distinguished conference, one that hones MUN skills, connects individuals and teams from across North America, and fosters countless positive memories for those who attend. This job entails two tasks: overseeing the unmatched hard work of our Secretariat, staff, and delegates, as well as fostering the unique and intangible Spirit of VICS that has drawn students from across the country to Charlottesville for more than three decades. I look forward to the preparation and coordination involved in running a successful conference in anticipation of it all coming to fruition in March.
Each year, VICS brings together collegiate delegates to negotiate creative solutions to crises in the past, present, and future. Each year, VICS commits itself to a spirit of innovation and fun both inside and outside of the committee room, dedicated to making each iteration of the conference better than the last. In committee, expect nothing less than the best delegate experience possible—we promise riveting debate, high-quality staffing, and continued support from Secretariat to ensure all delegates create memorable experiences in their committee rooms. Outside of debate, VICS strives to create an unparalleled weekend experience. I hope you’re all looking forward to our fun-filled social scene that is renowned across the collegiate MUN circuit—personally, my favorite part of VICS is seeing delegates bond with one another on a refreshing walk around Grounds, over lunch on the Corner, or on the dance floor of VICSer. With high-level debate and exciting events post-committee, I encourage you all to maximize your time on Grounds with the many opportunities VICS has to offer.
As a final note, I encourage you to attend VICS for the same reason I have decided to lead it: the amazing community of people who make this conference happen and keep the Spirit of VICS alive and thriving. Please feel free to personally contact me at sg@iro-vics.org or click the ‘Contact’ button to reach out to us. I am so excited for you all to join me in celebrating 31 years and counting of this wonderful conference and can’t wait to see you in Charlottesville this March!
