Pho the People: The Vietnam War, 1954: Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North)

It's the year 1954, and no more is the tyrannical rule of the French invaders. As members of the Vietnamese Communist Party, it is up to you to unite the country through political, economic, and military influence. Will you let Ngo Dinh Diem and the corrupt United States decide the future vision for Vietnam, or will you fight to maintain a Communist Vietnam fit for the people? The population looks to you for guidance, you must do everything in your power to give them the gift of unity and reunification. After all, a Vietnam divided against itself cannot stand.

Chair | Ashton Khamphavong

Ashton Khamphavong is a first-year from Boylston, Massachusetts (the prison next to his house has a larger population than the entire town), and plans to major in Biology and Anthropology in the college. He has participated in MUN since his sophomore year of high school and helped organize two local conferences. Outside of all things MUN-related, Ashton can be found missing wide-open layups in his IM basketball games, yelling at his TV as Mac Jones throws another interception (Go Pats!), and struggling to find lab research in the med school. He is very excited to meet everyone and hopes his contacts don't randomly fall out!

Crisis Director | Ian Travis

Ian Travis is a first year from Wellesley, Massachusetts. He has competed as a delegate in his MUN team since middle school in the New England circuit. Outside of MUN, Ian loves soccer (referees and is an avid supporter), politics, and serves as a ESL instructor at UVA. He is very excited to work with everyone in March!
