As VICS will be held on the lovely Grounds of the University of Virginia, VICS strongly encourages delegations to consider staying as close to the University’s Central Grounds as possible. Hotel room blocks have been made for delegations at two different hotels this year: The Graduate Charlottesville and the Courtyard Marriott Charlottesville. For more information on how to book rooms under the blocks, contact the Chargé d’Affaires, Sam Rice, at

The Graduate Charlottesville

Located on the Corner and across the street from the University, the Graduate Charlottesville is in an ideal location for quick travel to committee and all the conference’s social events. Rooms feature two queen beds, a refrigerator, free high speed wireless internet, and docking stations, among other things. A special conference rate has been secured for $119 on Thursday night and $199 on Friday and Saturday night. In order to receive this rate, make sure to mention the “VICS” group when calling the Graduate at 434-295-4333. The deadline for reserving rooms is Thursday, February 22.

Courtyard by Marriott at the University Medical Center

Also located on the Corner and only a short walk away from committee sessions and social events, the Courtyard by Marriott at the University Medical Center is offering rooms with two queen beds, free high speed internet, complimentary parking, and more for only $179 a night. In order to receive this rate, make sure to mention the “VICS” block when calling 434-977-1700.

There are many different hotel options from which delegations can choose, as Charlottesville is a popular tourist attraction. However, we would like to emphasize the importance of staying at a hotel close to the main campus of the University of Virginia, as all committee sessions will be held in academic buildings on campus, and all social events will be hosted on the Corner (University Avenue) and the area behind the corner. In the past, some delegations have chosen to stay at hotels farther away from the conference (down Route 29) in order to save money, but ended up spending more money on Ubers to travel back and forth from committees and social events. Thus, we highly recommend taking advantage of the reservation blocks at The Graduate Charlottesville and the Courtyard by Marriot at the University Medical Center. Other hotels at a close distance to Central Grounds include The Cavalier Inn (434-296-8111), the Oakhurst Inn (434-872-0100), and the Hampton Inn & Suites (434-923-8600).
